9/16/2014 - Two Armed Robberies on 9-15-14

The first robbery was reported Monday, 9-15-14, at about 11:55 PM.  Officers were sent to the Murphy USA at 4209 Canyon Drive on an armed robbery.  The clerk said that a person walked in about 11:52 PM.  He was wearing a dark hoodie, dark jeans, gloves, and a white plastic mask.  The clerk felt the person was a black male.  The suspect had a pistol.  He handed the clerk a plastic sack and told him to put the money in it.  The suspect left south bound on foot.  No vehicle was seen.  No one was injured in this incident.  

The second was reported on Tuesday morning at about 12:30 AM.  Officers were sent to the 5300 block of S. Western on a kidnapping/armed personal robbery.  The victim reported that he was kidnapped at gunpoint from 5000 S. Western, the parking lot of the U. S. Post Office, then forced to drive to 5050 S. Western to obtain money from ATM.  He then went to 5700 Canyon Drive., where the suspect was dropped off. The suspect had a pistol, dark thick clothing, and a white plastic hockey type mask. No one was injured in this incident. These incidents are still under investigation at this time. 9/2/2014 - Burglary/ trailer theft 14-520470Aa

Amarillo Crime Stoppers needs your help identifying the suspect in this theft from August 28th at about 4:15 AM. The suspect went to a storage facility in the 1500 block of SE 34th where the suspect disabled the security gate and manually opened it. It took him less than 3 minutes to get in and remove the CM brand 16` single axle black trailer loaded with (3) 4-wheelers. One of them is grey. The two smaller 4 wheelers are blue with black stripes and the other is pink with black stripes and a storage rack in the back. 7/15/2014 - Air-conditioning unit thefts

Amarillo Crime Stoppers needs your help with this week’s “Crime of the week”. In a period of a week there has been an abnormal amount of air-conditioner units stolen from area churches, a school and other locations. These thefts are anything but “cool”. 7/1/2014 - Residential Burglary- Weapons taken 14-515212Lu

Amarillo Crime Stoppers needs your help with this week’s “Crime of the week”. Between June 25th and the 27th a home was broken into in the 4300 block of S Bonham. Taken from the home were 11 weapons of various brands and types as well as jewelry and personal items. We need these weapons recovered and off the streets. 6/10/2014 - Hit and Run Fatality 14-508648Lan

On April 13, 2014 at approximately 1:36am Officer were dispatched to Ne 20th and N Currie LN reference a wreck.  Upon their arrival they discovered one party had fled the scene.  The Officers found that Lucille Valverde, WF, 65 of Amarillo had been driving a 2006 Chrysler 300 eastbound on Ne 20th.  A late 90’s to early 2000’s model Dodge Dually truck was southbound on N Currie LN.  The driver of this vehicle ran a stop sign and struck the Chrysler.  The Dodge fled the scene.  Valverde was taken to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  On May 9, 2014 Valverde died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.  The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Dept.  If anyone has any information concerning the driver or the truck involved in this crash they are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.

6/3/2014 - 14-511879Aa Auto Burglary weapons taken

Amarillo Crime Stoppers needs your help with this week’s “Crime of the week”. An SUV was broken into overnight on the 21st in a hotel parking lot in the 8300 block of Amarillo Blvd West. Taken from the vehicle were several weapons including two handguns, two assault rifles and parts to build another assault rifle. We need these weapons recovered and off the streets. On May 5th around 10:15 PM APD officers were sent on a shots-fired call. 3 black males were seen walking down the 100 block of N Florida St just prior to shots being fired at a home occupied by two people. 4/15/2014 - Convenience store robbery 14-508804LO
Amarillo Crime Stoppers needs your help with this week’s “Crime of the week”. On 4-14-14, at about 11:05 PM, officers were sent to the Toot  ‘n Totum Store at 3101 Plains on a robbery.  The employee was at the front of counter when the suspect entered the store.   The suspect appeared to be a white or Hispanic male.  He was wearing a blue jeans and a hooded black jacket. He was also wearing a grey hood over his head and a cloth over his face. The suspect demanded money from the clerk. No weapon was seen as the suspect kept his hands in his pockets. The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect who then left on foot.
